whose body is the whole Universe,
whose speech is the entire world’s languages and whose ornaments are the moon stars. "

Our
Story

Prathimananda was founded in 2020, during the stillness of the lockdown, with a heartfelt vision to make art accessible to anyone and everyone, regardless of background or boundaries. What began as a small seed of intention has since grown into a nurturing space where classical art is not only taught, but truly lived. From then on, Prathimananda has been on a steady journey of shaping mindful artists, fostering creativity, and building a community rooted in tradition, expression, and inclusivity.

We are a budding ,Indian classical Bharatanatyam institute, dedicated to the promotion of art and culture. We aim at introducing and engaging people to this beautiful art form.

Mission

Prathimananda aims at creating strong artists with strong knowledge in the art form and who will be able to carry out this glorious art in the future.
The institute serves as a hub cultivating all things art, where promising young talents receive support in the creative disciplines of dance .

The institute will be using Bharatanatyam as the primary vocabulary of movement and maintain the clarity of the art form. The training for students will be focused towards balancing the traditional style along with slight influence on Kalakshetra bani.

At Prathimananda, our training blends both the theoretical and practical dimensions of Bharatanatyam. Our students receive in-depth instruction not only in the physical practice of the art form, but also in its rich theoretical background—covering talam (rhythm), history, mythology, and the spiritual and philosophical underpinnings of the tradition. As they grow in skill and understanding, senior students are also introduced to Nattuvangam and choreography, preparing them for more advanced creative roles. In addition to regular classes, we offer unique learning opportunities like an annual summer intensive, invitations to select performances, and meaningful exposure to renowned artists and world-class productions. The journey to becoming a confident solo performer typically takes 8 to 10 years. Through this comprehensive training, we aim to nurture dancers who embody technical excellence, artistic depth, and stage presence—artists who are ready to carry this legacy forward with integrity and grace. A student fully trained at Prathimananda is not just a skilled performer, but also a thoughtful teacher and imaginative choreographer. The length of the program can vary depending on when the student begins, their natural aptitude, and their dedication to the art. Admissions Entry into our program is selective and based on the Artistic Director’s approval. Traditionally, we welcome new students on Vijayadashami, an auspicious day in the Hindu calendar. Admissions are open three times a year January, July, and on Vijayadashami. The minimum age to begin training is 4+ years.
